About
Dr. Eric Marks, D.C.

Dr. Eric Marks is the founder and President of Pure Wellness. A graduate of Parker College of Chiropractic and the University of Delaware, he is licensed in Delaware and certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
He practices in Newark using Diversified, Gonstead, SOT, and myofascial release. Before leading Pure Wellness he held associate and leadership roles in Newark and Austin, and he still treats patients while running the group.
Outside the clinic he serves on the board of the Greater Newark Boys and Girls Club, stays active, follows sports, and spends time with his family. Patients who want the person who built this model of care start with Dr. Marks in Newark.
“Chiropractic is a way of looking at total body health, not a trick for a tight back.”
What a visit with Eric looks like
Your first appointment runs 60 to 90 minutes, and the adjustment is the last thing that happens, not the first. Eric starts with your history — what happened, when, what makes it worse, what you have already tried — then screens your posture, measures range of motion rather than estimating it, and examines the joints and soft tissue around the area you are pointing at.
You get told what was found before anything is treated. If you are a chiropractic case and you want to be adjusted the same day, that happens at the first visit. A full verbal report of findings comes at the follow-up, when there has been time to look at everything properly.
Eric adjusts using Diversified, Gonstead, Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), Myofascial Release, and the choice is made from the exam rather than from habit. Lower-force options exist for every region of the spine, so if a manual adjustment is not right for you — or you simply do not want one — there is another way to get the joint moving. Each technique is described here.
Not every problem is a chiropractic problem. If yours is not, you will be told at the exam and pointed toward the right kind of care.
